Maria Bakhru

Maria Bakhru was born and raised in Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband, Amil, and their two daughters. She is a holistic health coach and the founder of Pure Intake, where she supports moms and families in living healthier, happier, and more intentional lives through simple, sustainable lifestyle practices.

Maria’s connection to liver advocacy began during the pandemic when her oldest daughter, Shalini, was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. As a mother, hearing the diagnosis was both overwhelming and life-changing. What followed was a season of fear, deep learning, countless questions, and an even deeper appreciation for the medical professionals who care for children with liver disease.

Through proper medical care, faith, family support, and lifestyle awareness, Shalini has continued to grow and thrive. Her strength and resilience have been a constant source of inspiration to their family and to others.

Walking this journey gave Maria a profound respect for the liver and its essential role in overall health. It also opened her heart to the power of community, advocacy, and sharing one’s story so other families feel less alone.

Maria and her family are deeply grateful for the doctors, nurses, and organizations that support liver patients. She is honored to serve on the Board of the Liver Health Foundation to lend her voice, raise awareness, and help bring hope and encouragement to families navigating similar paths.
