Douglas G. Farmer

Dr. Farmer is currently a Professor of Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at Duke University in 1985 and 1989. From there, he matriculated to UCLA from 1989-1996 for his General Surgery Residency training. This was followed by fellowship training in multiorgan transplantation under the mentorship of Ronald W. Busuttil at UCLA from 1996-1998. He joined the faculty at UCLA in 1998 and has remained there since.
His clinical expertise has been in adult and pediatric liver transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery, intestinal transplantation, and complex gastrointestinal surgery.
He as served as the Director of the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program at UCLA since 2006 and has been the first Director of the Intestinal Transplant Program since 1999. He is currently the Director of the Adult Liver Transplant Program as well as Interim Chief of the Division of Liver and Pancreas Transplantation.
