Aaron Ahearn

Assistant Professor of Surgery and Surgical Director of the Liver Transplant Program at Keck Medical Center of USC

Dr. Aaron Ahearn has an active clinical practice as a liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant surgeon, including living donor liver transplant. His clinical research interests include liver transplant organ allocation, expanding the use of living donor liver transplant, including bloodless liver transplant for Jehovah’s witnesses and other patients unwilling to receive blood products, and studying the economic impact of liver donation.

He also serves as the Region 5 representative on the UNOS liver and intestine committee. He has an extensive background in Transplant Immunology, having previously studied the natural tolerance of Liver allografts in transgenic mouse models.

He is an active member of ASTS, serving on the ASTS Regulatory and Legislation Committee and previously received the ASTS Roche Laboratory Scientist Scholarship and the American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation Careers in Transplantation Award.
